Above all, apples and carrots (to double the miles) should be bunkered in abundance, as these are limited in number and cannot be send by mail.
It is also never wrong to inform your guild members well in advance that you want to embark on the "Great Journey". <br />Again for two reasons:

Since the race lasts two weeks, these goods do not have to be in the warehouse in their entirety - they can be reproduced during the journey.

So you get to Rome with exactly 200 stages/tasks/journeys. <br />So that also means that you need 200x 3 carrots or apples. So a total of 600! <br />If you don't want to fill up your warehouse with it, you should definitely have 150 pieces per product in stock (= 2x 30 storage spaces!).
