Tips for racing through Italy

Preparation is everything

In order to get as far as possible and above all: to get ahead as quickly as possible, you can only take the highest selectable product group (which is 20 miles). Medium (e.g.: Flagstones for 10 miles) or small (e.g.: Gaulish Soup for 5 miles) should be avoided as far as possible, as progress is slowed down considerably. But this also has the positive side effect that you can limit the number of required goods to the "Big 5" (Horseshoes, Whips, Wheels, Chariots, Reins)!
If you have the goal of arriving in Rome, you should - no: you MUST stock your warehouse with the required goods beforehand and in good time. Above all, apples and carrots (to double the miles) should be bunkered in abundance, as these are limited in number and cannot be sent by mail.

It is also never wrong to inform your guild members well in advance that you want to embark on the "Great Journey".
Again for two reasons:

  1. A friendly guild (are there others? emoticon ) is happy to help with the production of the required goods
  2. Maybe other members of the guild will join the race to push the guild goal higher and get better rewards.

And if you want to get really far, then you need a lot of fan banners and swift horses in Rome - you have to have the latter in stock, because you can't send them either.

Goods needed to reach Rome

How much of all the goods should I bunker?
As I said before: in order to get to Rome optimally, you don't have to have ALL the goods that appear in the race in stock!
But to be on the safe side, you need these goods for the cities, and you can (with an optimal course) quantify them quite precisely:

Needed goods in towns
12x Racing Gloves Racing glover.PNG In Modicia
16x Map map.PNG In Venetiae
14x Paintbrushes Paintbrush.PNG In Florentia
16x Chariot Jacks Chariot Jack.PNG In Pisae
13x Racing Shirt Racing Shirt.PNG In Sena Iulia
16x Horns Horn.PNG In Neapolis
12x Chariot Permit Chariot Permit.PNG In Panormus

And then there are the goods that you need on the way between the cities.
The type of goods is selected at random (at least I couldn't see any system). It is therefore not possible to quantify the exact number of goods required. For me, I found a quantity of 35 per product to be sufficient. However, since the number of goods required is different, here is my suggestion:

Needed goods between cities
(only the "Big Goods" listed)
35x2 Horseshoes Horseshoes.PNG
35x Whip Whip.png
35x2 Wheel Wheel.PNG
35x Chariot Chariot.PNG
35x Reins Reins.PNG

Since the race lasts two weeks, these goods do not have to be in the warehouse in their entirety - they can be reproduced during the journey.

Optimal race progress

The following list can help you to get to Rome in the best possible way:

Needed goods between cities
From Mile To mile Number Goods
0 80 2 "Big Goods"
80 200 6 2x Racing Glove
200 400 5 "Big Goods"
400 560 8 2x Map
560 960 10 "Big Goods"
960 1,100 7 2x Paintbrush
1,100 1,700 15 "Big Goods"
1700 1860 8 2x Chariot Jack
1,860 2,660 20 "Big Goods"
2,660 2,800 7 2x Racing Shirt
2,800 3,800 25 "Big Goods"
3,800 3,960 8 2x Horn
3,960 5,280 33 "Big Goods"
5,280 5,400 6 2x Chariot Permit
5,400 7,000 40 "Big Goods"

So you get to Rome with exactly 200 stages/tasks/journeys.
So that also means that you need 200x 3 carrots or apples. So a total of 600!
If you don't want to fill up your warehouse with it, you should definitely have 150 pieces per product in stock (= 2x 30 storage spaces!).

How far should I drive?

As with centurion throwing, the question arises: what do I want?

Let's start again with the simplest: "my personal goal":
MY goal at the moment is to reach Florentia. Why that?
At the moment, this is relatively easy with daily use of 50 miles (and thus reaching the supply truck ;- ).
In addition, in Florentia you always get 3 Golden Viking Shields as a reward, which I like to use in battle.
But here everyone has to decide for themselves what to choose as a goal.

For the top targets it is like the centurion punch: the commitment of the other players is decisive!
