General Info
Taken from Sproing's FAQ (Sproing= former owner of A&F)
Now you can join the race through the regions of Italy! This is how it all works:
Duration
Each race will last two weeks and always ends at midnight CET every other Sunday. A new race then starts immediately and all players and guilds start again at 0 miles.
Earn miles
To advance in the race, players must complete tasks and earn miles. Each region (with the exception of Rome) has a fixed amount of miles, and when earned, players advance to the next region. In Rome, players can earn an infinite amount of miles (imagine the racers racing in circles in the Circus Maximus).
Tasks
In most regions, players will have three different tasks to choose from, ranging from easy to difficult. Simple tasks require less effort but earn fewer miles. Difficult tasks give players more miles, but also require more effort. In cities, players can also choose between three tasks, but only two of them reward you with regional specialties. The third task will only award Miles and XP, but is fairly easy to complete. Additionally, when selecting a task, players can double their miles by feeding their horses delicious carrots or apples.
Win the race
To win the race, a player must take first place when the race ends. Remember, it's not about being faster than the rest of Rome, it's about who has the most miles.
Rewards
Players get rewards when the race ends. The reward received depends on which region a player is in when the race ends. The further the players get, the better the rewards. The players who do particularly well will receive a bonus chest with additional rewards. There will be a bonus chest for first place, first 50 places and first 500 places. There is a reward for reaching each region, but only the reward for reaching the region the player is in when the race ends is given to the player.
Regional specialties and wreaths
Each city has its own regional specialty that can only be obtained there. Once players have left the city, they cannot obtain this specialty again until the next race starts and they reach that city again. Regional specialties can be exchanged with Obelix for Victory Wreaths, which are required for some quests and for training the villagers.
Guild Race
Guilds can also compete in the race. A guild's placement in the race is determined by the total mileage of its members. This means that joining and leaving members has an immediate effect on the guild's ranking. In the guild race, the distances between regions are longer, and the bonus chests are awarded to the first guild, first 10 guilds, and first 100 guilds.
The road to a city
Players must turn in items to earn 5, 10, or 20 miles and a corresponding amount of XP. Three tasks are offered for these miles.
After selecting a task, the player cannot cancel it.
Before handing in the required goods, players have the opportunity to earn the mileage with 3 apples or carrots to double.
Possible task points for 5 miles
- 2 Carrots, 1 Gaulish Soup, 2 Horses, 2 Oats, 2 Water
Possible task points for 10 miles
- 5 Apples, 2 Grease, 5 Flagstones, 5 Milestones, 1 Wheel
Possible task points for 20 miles
- 1 Chariot, 5 Horseshoes, 1 Reins, 2 Wheels, 1 Whip
In a city
Players also have 3 options to choose from in the cities. However, the required goods depend on the city.
Two of the quests also reward the player with specialty dishes. These tasty dishes can be exchanged with Obelix for wreaths (see table below).
The mileage can also be doubled.
- Option 1: One goods for 5 miles and XP
- Option 2: Two goods for 10 miles and XP
- Option 3: 3 water or 3 wooden planks for 5 miles and XP
Specialties and swaps
Miles can be accumulated indefinitely in Rome by constantly driving in circles like in the Circus Maximus.

Supply truck
Once a day there are rewards in the supply truck. To do this, 100 miles must be covered in the race to catch up with the supply wagon.
The rewards are:
- Sesterces (100-300)
- Resistance Points (10-100)
- Useful Goods (e.g. Golden Viking Shields)
- Racing Items (e.g. Wheels)
- Roman Helmets in a random number between 10 and 50
It is possible to shorten the route until the supply wagon is caught. See Tips for players.
