Chapter 1 | Gaulish driving skills |
The Gauls set off for Londinium, but the Romans are still hot on their heels refusing to give up. [nlbr]With the help of a few tricky maneuvers, our Gauls can surely succeed in outpacing the Roman soldiers in the British countryside! | |
Success | Fail |
---|---|
The Gauls race across the countryside like the champions in the Circus Maximus, finally managing to put more and more distance between themselves and the Romans.[nlbr]Poor Funfax is already quite green around the gills! | Oh dear, oh dear, the Gauls have exhausted the poor horse too much - it's getting slower and slower. Soon it is huffing and puffing and refuses to trot forward even a meter, so the Romans quickly catch up with our heroes. |
Chapter 2 | British garden slalom |
Our Gauls are at full gallop when a sign in the distance catches their eye: “Do not touch the turf!” Funfax explains to our heroes that the Britons are quite fond of their lovely gardens. They don't like it at all when someone messes them up and are prone to react quite harshly. Now the Gauls must proceed more carefully. | |
Success | Fail |
Under the stern eagle eyes of the British garden owners, the Gauls drive around the well-tended turfs with such care that they don't even bend a single blade of grass! Therefore, our heroes lose their speed, but the Romans carelessly trample through the gardens and immediately make the acquaintance of a pilum of a not so cheerful Briton. [nlbr]This will keep them busy for a while and gives the Gauls a leg-up! | By Toutatis! The Gauls try so hard, and yet they leave a trail of wheels and hooves on the well-tended turfs of the Britons.[nlbr]The natives don't like to see THAT at all and a sharp pilum is already aimed at the chests of our heroes. To make matters even worse, the Romans are catching up from behind. Oh no, what a mess. |
Chapter 3 | Strike! |
Oh dear, what's that on the horizon? A Roman patrol has blocked the road and there is no space to evade! What should our Gauls do now? Should they try to break through the barrier at full speed or do they bring the cart to a stop at the last minute? | |
Success | Fail |
"Don't worry, they'll stop ... right?"[nlbr]The Gauls dash through the blockade at breakneck speed and like cones, the Romans fly away in all directions.[nlbr]Let's go to Londinium! | Oh well, that's not the way the Gauls imagined their escape! Just before reaching the Romans, their horse balks, and the whole cart comes to a halt.[nlbr]Just like that, they are surrounded by Romans. That did not work out as planned! |
Chapter 4 | Risky Race |
The Gauls are still dashing through the British countryside in a wild gallop, Londinium already on the horizon, when they suddenly hear a loud crack and a wheel breaks from the cart![nlbr]Now our heroes need to act quickly - they don't have time to fix it! | |
Success | Fail |
Before the cart can even wobble, the Gauls get hit by a flash of wit and they shift their weight to the other side of the cart so that it can continue on three wheels! Clever, really clever! After all, our Gauls have brains as well as muscle power! | Boom! Before our Gauls can even lift a finger, the cart collapses and they end up nose-first in the mud. The Romans are already approaching from afar. Oh dear, what a dilemma. |
Chapter 5 | At the gates of Londinium |
The gates of Londinium come into sight, but oh dear! Heaps of Romans are stationed in front of the city, so there's no getting through for our Gauls![nlbr]Can they think of a clever trick to sneak in anyway? | |
Success | Fail |
While the Gauls are still thinking about how to sneak past the Romans, a thick, opaque mist is already settling over Londinium. Happens pretty often at this time of the year![nlbr]Our heroes sneak quietly through the gate into the city and the Romans don't notice anything! How lucky they are! | The Gauls rack their brains, but they just can't come up with an idea of how to sneak past the Romans.[nlbr]So they decide to test their luck but get caught quickly by the Roman soldiers. |
Chapter 6 | Bustling big city |
Our Gauls are amazed when they ride through the streets of Londinium for the first time! Double-decker chariots and portable roofs, what a strange city! Then, a crowd of shrieking girls rushes towards them. Apparently, there is a famous group of bards in town right now.[nlbr]Will our heroes make it through the crowd unscathed? | |
Success | Fail |
Caution, duck your head and cover your ears! The Gauls never thought that they would ever push their way through a tussle in which they don't participate, but all these screaming girls pulling each other's hair are giving them the creeps![nlbr]Our heroes proceed carefully and make it through the crowd unscathed. | The shrieking crowd of young girls is more difficult to handle than the Roman turtle formation. There is no getting through for our Gauls and they have to make a long detour through the narrow streets of the city. That took a lot of time! |
Chapter 7 | The Jug and Amphora |
After a while, the Gauls reach the tavern “The Jug and Amphora”, where Anticlimax was last seen.[nlbr]By Teutates! As they enter the tavern, a group of shady street bandits seems to threaten the innkeeper![nlbr]Well, surely our Gauls will be able to teach them a lesson! | |
Success | Fail |
The British bandits aren't delighted at all when our Gauls whip them properly! How rude! All they wanted was to ask about this Anticlimax guy! Wait a minute, what? Did these scoundrels just say Anticlimax? | Jeez, these British street bandits may seem polite, but they have some pretty dirty tricks up their sleeves. The Gauls didn't expect that![nlbr]The bandits batter our heroes pretty badly and steal their belongings on top of that. |
Chapter 8 | Time for an interrogation! |
The Gauls grab one of the bandits and start interrogating him. Time is of the essence and they absolutely need to know where to find Anticlimax.[nlbr]To squeeze this information out of the bandit should be child's play! | |
Success | Fail |
Between all the face slaps, the bandit is a little bit hard to understand, but the Gauls learn that the bandits wanted to capture Anticlimax to sell him to the Romans for a reward but then lost him. However, they have a comrade who might know where he is! Unfortunately, the guy was arrested this morning and put into the Tower of Londinium! How should our heroes get in there? | "Ouch! Ow! Ouch! " The bandit is having a tough time but he doesn't tell the Gauls anything.[nlbr]Well, what now? Our heroes are back to square one and have no idea where Anticlimax might be. |
Chapter 9 | According to plan |
While the Gauls are still pondering the best way to get into the Tower of Londinium, Funfax has an idea! They just infiltrate the tower from the inside! All they have to do is to make a racket to attract a Roman patrol. Surely they will be delighted to lock them up in the tower.[nlbr]Will their plan succeed? | |
Success | Fail |
Said and done! The Gauls and Funfax make a lot of noise and a Roman patrol shows up right-away! "Those Gaulish tourists are just causing trouble!" Without resisting, our heroes allow the Romans to take them in and soon find themselves in front of the gates of the Tower of Londinium! How nice it is when everything works out according to plan! | The Gauls and Funfax make a lot of noise, but no Roman patrol shows up. Apparently, they are busy keeping the shrieking girls in the streets of Londinium at bay! Darn it! |
