My best thanks to Lipzix for this guide!
Master Strategist
So "earlier" i.e. BEFORE October 2017 all players could actually achieve this success quite easily. Then the strength of the patrols was made dependent on the village level.
- Level 00-29: Strength 15, 25, 35, Ambush 20.
- Level 30-39: Strength 20, 30, 40, Ambush 25.
- Level 40-49: Strength 25, 35, 45, Ambush 30.
- Level 50+: Strength 30, 40, 50, Ambush 35.
(Fogpatrols also increase as above: 13, 18, 23, 28 if fog-event comes back at some point)
The problem with this particular task is that if you have a strength of 3 or more, even if you lose the fight with the patrol, you lose 1 strength point. With the next attack you then have more percentages as a chance of victory, but THAT is exactly what is not wanted here.
That means you have to find a patrol somewhere (Egypt or Gaul) that has a strength of 20. Don't be fooled by the bug that still exists with ambushes - they are often incorrectly displayed as 20 when they are actually 35, for example (see tiering above).
If you are already too high in the village level, you can also create the 20 Patrol yourself by "carefully" fighting down a stronger patrol.
Then the following instructions apply:
- Fight somewhere with an Egyptian worker or in Gaul with a resident until he is without a weapon and has zero strength.
- Then put a poor spear on the fighter (thus has strength 2), this gives a 4% chance against the 20 patrol.
- Now keep hitting the patrol until the fighter wins. Deduction for patrol remains zero, don't be surprised!
